AIM: The aim of this research article is to explore those areas where pharmacology research can contribute new insights concerning contraceptive possibilities. METHODS: The method consists in an in-depth analysis of available publications on birth control and family planning emanating from the most influential sources and a comparison of conclusive versus inconclusive data found in these publications. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The result is evidence for flawed data in presently available publications. The conclusion stipulates continued pharmacology research not only on mechanism of action, adverse events, and interactions but also on the parameter of safety.
